Ladies I am sure that we have all encountered foods that are masked as healthy choices but really are much higher in points than we would have ever guessed.
Some of the biggest shockers for me were avocados, granola and tortillas. Just one cup of granola is 12 points. Tortillas are also seen as a great alternative but really they can be higher in points than we would have imagined.
I would love to hear from you what foods have shocked you?
Oh no! Avocados are on the list, bummer!
ReplyDeleteI finally found soft tortillas for 1 point. I couldn't live without them!!
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to see how many Wheat thins were!! Crazy!
ditto about wheat thins (i still eat them though)...one serving (16 crackers) of reduced fat wheat thins is 3 points! LAME
ReplyDeleteand I have to eat avocados so i only eat 1/4 of a medium one which is only 2 points.
I think the biggest shock I had was the Kung Pao Chicken at Pick Up Stix. They don't post their nutritional values in their restaurants, but I was able to find it online. One order (without rice) is 35 points. 35!! That's insane!
ReplyDeleteI think it's crazy that a grande Cinnamon Dulce latte at Starbucks with 2% milk is 8 points. Although I always get smaller than grande and always get nonfat milk, so I don't really have to worry about it (my Starbucks drinks are usually2 points). But 8 points! I can't believe people drink those things every day...
ReplyDeletei too was really surprised by the tortillas (do you know that the ones at chipotle are 6 points! for just the tortilla--no wonder they're so good). buuuuuut, if you use the high fiber ones, they are usually one point!
ReplyDeletegood post. when i first started weight watchers I was so surprised by how many points cheese was. Like, I knew it was high in fat, I just never thought about it before. But, wowza cheese is high!
ReplyDeleteI think it is always suprising to see the calories in salads at restaurants!
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the above. My most shocking was PEANUT BUTTER!! That stuff is crazy high in points.
ReplyDeletethat makes me the saddest of all!! i crave peanut butter and jelly but it's more than half my points to make the darn sandwich!!! =(
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to buy Avocados all the time until she found out they were so high :(
